Details

· 100 intricately crafted, delicate bristles · Suitable for preparing usucha and koicha · Handcrafted from a single piece of golden bamboo · 11 x 6 cm · Comes in sturdy plastic packaging. A chasen is indispensable for the traditional preparation of matcha tea. Thanks to its delicate bristles, the tea can be whisked into a finer, creamier foam than with any other utensil. To prepare the tea, mix 1–2 grams of matcha powder with a sip of water to form a fine paste. Then, 50–70 ml of water is added to the paste, and the whisk is moved through the liquid with quick W-shaped motions. After a short time, a firm and fine foam forms on top of the tea.

Production & Use

The whisk is handcrafted from a single piece of bamboo. The production of these delicate tools is a rare Asian craft that requires a great deal of experience and time. The chasen is made from lustrous, golden bamboo. This material is a classic choice for Japanese tea accessories and complements the vibrant green of matcha exceptionally well. The bamboo whisk features 100 very finely crafted bristles and is particularly well-suited for preparing both usucha (thin tea) and koicha (thick tea).

Care Instructions
  • Stainless steel glass sets and measuring spoons are dishwasher-safe
  • Please do not wash the matcha bowls in the dishwasher!
  • Wipe the bamboo spoon and wooden tray with a dry cloth only.
  • After use, clean the bamboo whisk with water only and place it on the whisk holder. Do not store it in the plastic tube!
  • Strainer: dishwasher-safe (however, we recommend hand-washing). Cleaning is not necessary after every use.

ALL THE BENEFITS AT A GLANCE

Why We Love Matcha.

Natural Energy Drink

The caffeine in matcha is bound, so its effects are gentler and last longer. One cup of matcha = about one cup of coffee

Unassuming & Indispensable.

Behind every frothy matcha is a good whisk. Tip: Rinse the bristles with water before use—this makes the wood more supple and extends its lifespan.
