💡 Gyokuro - The finest green tea.

Before harvest, Gyokuro is kept in complete shade for several days, which causes it to accumulate more amino acids and thus develop its incomparable character. The tea is exceptionally sweet, full-bodied, and mild. Due to the labor-intensive and costly cultivation of Gyokuro, the tea is served even in Japan only on special occasions.

History & Region

Find out exactly what matcha is here.

A high-end organic Gyokuro. There are only a few regions in Japan known for truly excellent Gyokuro. Kagoshima, in particular, has earned a reputation for producing the finest organic varieties. Thanks to the warm climate and mineral-rich soils, this green tea finds ideal conditions here to develop its unique characteristics. Gyokuro N°01 is therefore very full-bodied, round, and sweet. The aromas of exotic fruits create a truly unique drinking experience. Gyokuro—the finest green tea in the world. Before harvest, Gyokuro is fully shaded for several days, which allows it to accumulate more amino acids and thus develop its incomparable character. The tea is exceptionally sweet, full-bodied, and mild. Due to the labor-intensive and costly cultivation of Gyokuro, the tea is served even in Japan only on special occasions. The tea is steamed only briefly (15–20 seconds). This stops fermentation and preserves Gyokuro’s beautiful, dark green color. The darker and finer the tea leaves, the higher the quality and the better the tea.

Shelf Life & Storage

The green tea is delivered in an airtight, heat-sealed package.

The tea can be stored for up to two years without any problems. We’ve provided more information on this here.

For matcha only: Because it is ground so finely, the powder is highly susceptible to external factors such as light, oxygen, and heat. The tea should therefore always be stored in a tightly sealed container in a place away from direct sunlight.

ALL THE BENEFITS AT A GLANCE

Why We Love Matcha.

Natural Energy Drink

The caffeine in matcha is bound, so it has a gentler and longer-lasting effect. One cup of matcha = about one cup of coffee

Gyokuro - The Finest Green Tea in the World

One of our favorites. As soon as you open the package, this tea gives off a lovely hint of mango. If the tea leaves are allowed to unfurl freely in a kyusu, the quality of this tea becomes apparent even before you take a sip.
