Our organic Matcha Yottsu comes from the top region of Kirishima in Kagoshima Prefecture. Together with Nishio and Uji, Kirishima is known for the best organic matcha tea in Japan. Due to its location in the south of the country, not only is the climate ideal for growing Tencha, but the soil also offers very good conditions. The mountainous region is an active volcanic landscape characterized by particularly mineral-rich and fertile soil. Thanks to these perfect conditions, the region has established itself as the second largest green tea producer in Japan.

The raw tea comes exclusively from the first harvest and is picked and sorted by hand. After steaming and gentle drying, the Tencha is very finely ground on granite stone mills. This gives the tea its fine, velvety texture and allows it to be whisked quickly. Thanks to its fruity and lively character, our Matcha Yottsu is particularly suitable for preparing matcha lattes.

Thanks to an additional rubber coating on the lid (particularly stable upper on the storage bags), the tea stays fresh for a long time even after opening. Due to the extremely fine grinding, the powder is highly susceptible to external influences such as light, oxygen and heat. The tea should therefore always be stored tightly closed in a place away from direct sunlight.
