Organic Matcha Mittsu

💡 Tip: Especially delicious when served cold

Refreshing, fruity, and lively. A very subtle bitterness that, especially when cold, is strongly reminiscent of nuts.

History & Region

Find out exactly what matcha is here.

The finest organic matcha from the premier Nishio region in Aichi. Along with Kagoshima, Aichi Prefecture is a leader in the production of exceptional organic matcha teas. Thanks to its ideal climate and excellent soil conditions, the region is perfectly suited for growing tencha. More than a quarter of Japan’s total matcha production comes from this area. By using a special organic fertilizer, tea farmers can guarantee a consistently high quality of their products. To cultivate our organic matcha “Mittsu,” the plants are fully shaded (>90%) for at least three weeks. It is only through this deprivation of light that the tencha develops its unique character and its fruity and nutty aromas. After harvesting, the tea is gently dried and then traditionally ground on granite stone mills. This results in an extremely fine powder, and the tea can be quickly and easily whisked into a frothy consistency. Thanks to its vibrant and fresh character, this matcha is best suited for preparing usucha (thin tea).

Shelf Life & Storage

The matcha is delivered in an airtight, heat-sealed package.

Matcha can be stored for up to two years without any problems. We’ve provided more information on this here.

Because it is ground so finely, the powder is highly susceptible to external factors such as light, oxygen, and heat. The tea should therefore always be stored in a tightly sealed container in a place away from direct sunlight.
