Hojicha is a traditional Japanese green tea that differs from other teas due to its special roasting process. Unlike conventional green tea, Hojicha is additionally roasted over a hot fire after steaming. This creates its unique, nutty, roasted aroma and its warm, brown color. It also contains significantly less caffeine than matcha or coffee.

Roasting not only gives it its characteristic taste, but also reduces the bitter substances in the tea. The result is a particularly smooth, slightly sweet infusion that has a pleasantly calming effect.

Shelf life & storage

The matcha is sealed airtight delivered.

Matcha can easily be stored up to two years can be stored for up to two years. We have more on this described for you here.

Due to the extremely fine grinding, the powder is highly susceptible to external influences such as light, oxygen and heat. The tea should therefore always be stored tightly closed in a place away from direct sunlight.

Unexpectedly Addictive!

I recently tried the hojicha from KARU, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The flavor is smooth, earthy, and beautifully roasted with zero bitterness, making it perfect for winding down in the evening. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique, grounding tea experience!

Also, KARU team, please consider offering a larger size than just 30g! I go through it way too quickly... it's that good!
