Production & Use

The bowl comes from a renowned manufacturer in Gifu Prefecture. The prefecture in the center of Japan is known beyond the country's borders for its high-quality, handmade stoneware. The unique pieces are made by hand in the traditional Japanese style. The chawan is specially designed for making matcha tea.

The chawan has a white base with delicate shades of gray and green. The surface is slightly uneven, giving the matcha bowl a lively appearance. A special glaze with fine hairline cracks gives the Chawan a unique vintage design that is particularly appreciated by connoisseurs. The cork-look base forms a beautiful contrast to the bright white tones. We recommend a chasen (bamboo whisk) and chashaku (bamboo spoon) made of golden bamboo as accessories for the bowl. The light-colored bamboo material complements the matcha bowl perfectly. The classic Ido katachi (well-formed) shape is ideal for preparing and enjoying matcha tea.

Care instructions
  • Please do not clean in the dishwasher
  • Only wipe the bamboo spoon with a dry cloth
  • Only clean the bamboo broom with water after use & it is best to place it on a broom holder. Do not store in the plastic tube!
